4G iPod touch at FCC shows internal, insulated antenna

The shots show that the iPod touch manages to have a completely internal antenna despite the lack of the black plastic covering from the back. It also notes that the antenna has an insulator to reduce interference, though this is more likely to be for internal interference since the steel back isn't known to be used for reception....

As with Apple's plans, Amazon has both ABC and Fox providing shows, although the online retailer's ability to rival iTunes is mixed. Amazon VOD can play on the web and on multiple set-top boxes like the TiVo, but only some of its shows are in HD where Apple promises 720p....

FCC insists original neutrality plan still in the cards

FCC officials today tossed rumors [sub. required] that they were softening plans for net neutrality regulation. An unnamed agency staffer told the WSJ that Chairman Julius Genachowski had "absolutely not" given up on the existing strategy of reclassifying some parts of Internet use to tighten regulation. A Credit Suisse investment analyst had claimed earlier in the day that the FCC was giving up and would please telecom companies by conceding to their demands....

Apple's iOS platform has managed to pass a major desktop OS for the first time in web use as it now has more share than Linux, Net Applications found today. It just took the lead in July but held and widened it in August, with iPads, iPhones and iPods taking 1.13 percent; Linux has declined to a new low at just 0.85 percent. The figure doesn't include Android, though it has far lower share at just 0.2 percent....
